I love this comparison! The chart grading Kevin Warsh is definitely great for the policy wonks, but the Dracula one is a total masterpiece. There is something perfect about visualizing inflation as a wealth-vampire slowly draining our purchasing power—and the 'inflation sucks' caption absolutely nails it. Hard economic data is always a lot easier to swallow when it comes with a side of Halloween humor!
Stacey had one star deducted for second-guessing her original totally great Wages v CPI chart. C'mon: fangs, red nail-polished claws, bloody, frightened eyes - classic 1930's b&w horror (colorized to meet 21st century expectations). But then amending that to add PPI, reducing the gore and making the victim bare shouldered & unconscious - actually raised the ick factor while making the stats more complex, crossed the 'trying too hard' line. Regardless, still crushes Justin's grade chart where the winning category was 'I dunno, check back later' - indecision, kinda wishy washy, take a stand or go home
